House in which donor Ruth Thompson Mohlenhoff lived during childhood. Photo dated Feb. 11, 1934. House stood on property about where Plainedge High School is located. Father of donor, John Thompson lost house and farm for mortgage and taxes during the Depression of the 1930's.

The Wiebel house noted in P76-1 about 8 years later. In photo front row are Anna Wiebel Thompson (mother of donor Ruth Thompson Mohlenhoff), Jacob Wiebel (grandfather of donor), Charles Wiebel (Anna Thompson's brother), and John Thompson, father of donor. In back row are Meta Knettel Wiebel (grandmother of donor), and unidentified woman. John Thompson was orphaned and had lived with a family named Miller on Jerusalem Ave. He came to work for Jacob Wiebel, eventually marrying Anna. John advertised in newspapers in attempt to locate a brother and sister. His brother, a resident of Mattituck contacted John but the sister was never located.
